Free-range farming with LIBAIA nesting boxes
The free-range farming with LIBAIA nesting boxes consists of farming laying hens who are free to move inside the barn.
According to the European Directive which establishes the minimum standards to be respected in order to guarantee the protection of the laying hens, the density of animals per m2 of surface area is 9 for conventional farms and 6 for organic farms.
The LIBAIA model nesting boxes are designed to guarantee excellent living conditions for the animal.
Important technical solutions improve the animals’ wellbeing, promoting productivity and good management.
The free-range farming with LIBAIA nesting boxes is 120 cm wide with a depth of 60 cm
The egg collection belt is placed centrally under the two mats and has a width of 70 cm
The overall size of the nest (120 cm wide) combined with a depth of 60 cm per side and a central egg-collecting belt 70 cm wide allow for an excellent ratio between the density of nesting animals and the surface area used by the nest (see drawing)
Automatic chicken ejector
The bottom of the Libaia nest consists of a rigid galvanised mesh part and a soft plastic mat, which makes the space more comfortable.
In order to avoid hygienic and brooding problems, the bottom automatically lifts at night and the hens move to the outer area.
